Saturday night on a whim I decided to drag my wife out to rural Lowndes County and attempt to get a shot of the Milky Way since on previous tries I was unable to do so. We drove way out until we could find a really dark open space and using my Star Tracker app on my phone I searched the sky to see where the Milky Way was visible and pointed my camera and shot and this is the result. It's still not as good as I would like it to be since there is still a bit of noise when you get closer into the image so consider this an experiment. I plan to go out again soon and play around a little more with the ISO settings and see if I can reduce the noise more and still get a Milky Way shot. I fought against the Mississippi humidity which fogged up my camera and delayed me a bit and bug after bug after mosquito to get this shot so my patience was severely tested. Although I will try this again in the summer I think it might be more fun to do more of these in the fall.
