Since the fair was in town this past weekend, I made sure to get out to it to take some photos. I love all of the lights and the fast moving rides, because I knew I could get some good photos there. It's a stimulating experience for the brain with all of the stuff going on. My wife and our friend were riding all of the rides while I was running around getting photos of as much stuff as I could. One of the goals I had was to get some good light trail photos and this is one of them that I loved, and will post some more in the future. Unlike most of my other photos this is only one exposure. HDR is very tricky when using multiple exposures of something moving this fast at night, because Photomatix just can't handle the amount of deghosting needed to stitch three very different exposures together with such different amounts of light trailing, so I took the longest exposure and edited it in Lightroom and recovered the black that was lacking because it was such a bright exposure. I then added one of the many free Lightroom presets that I've found online that I sometimes stack on top of my own presets. This is what I will have to do with all of the other light trail photos that I took that night, but I am very happy with how they turned out and look forward to the next fair that comes to town.
